Do you want to get around comfortably and calm? Welcome to the guided dog sled safari! Drive your own team of sleigh dogs on a sparkling snowy track, through the spectacular Finnish forest trails. You can either try leading the Husky yourself or sit back and relax on the comfortable sled to enjoy the dreamy fairytale-like scenery. Should you not be able to take a curve smoothly, don't worry, the snow is soft, and the guide is close by. Huskies pull the sled through the snowy landscape and seem to be tireless. During breaks, they tug at their harnesses and can’t to finally move on. If you are afraid of dogs: the animals themselves will help you get over it quickly, because Huskies are very human and tame companions.
"Unforgettable" is the opinion of all previous guests. During lunch at the open fire you will feel like Jack London himself and leave the daily routine far behind.

WINTER SHOES!

Yes, we also have snowshoes and you are welcome to test your sportiness. In some regions of the world people use them to cover endless distances, isn’t this unbelievable?! It's definitely fun and you should try it out. If wearing them you get the feeling as if you had tennis rackets under your feet, you'll find yourself in good company with many of your predecessors.

If you would rather have a small introductory course to begin your journey, please mention this when booking. During the course you are shown the technique of walking with snowshoes as well as getting thorough information about the winter wilderness and the animal tracks in the snow.

Welcome to the cross-country skiing paradise of Lapland. If you wish, there are many hundreds of kilometres of prepared public trails in our region. Glide over the frozen lake at your leisure. Follow your thoughts and breathe in the freedom of the great outdoors. It will do you good.

The cross-country skiing equipment is part of the service package of our luxury holiday homes.

If you have never been on cross-country skis before or would like to improve your technique, we can recommend a tour in which you not only learn the technique, but also get a lot of information about the Finnish culture.

THE WILD

In Lapland there are more reindeer than people. There are about 200,000 reindeers compared to only about 185,000 people. The reindeer is an icon of Finnish Lapland and known worldwide as Santa’s helper. If you are lucky, you can even see reindeers in nature in winter. In summer, on the other hand, you can "find" the reindeers in small and large groups on the street every day. That’s why you have to drive slowly.

WHERE YOUR DREAM
COMES TRUE

Witnessing the northern lights, called Aurora Borealis, is not only thrilling but also a very impressive experience. In Finnish Lapland, you are most likely to see the lights from September to April. A very popular aurora tour contains stories and facts told sitting around the campfire. The perfect place for this tour is on the southern end of Lake Jerisjärvi, near our luxury holiday homes! Of course, it can also be organised elsewhere.

During the time of the strong solar wind, Pallas (about 20 minutes by car from the house) is a wonderful place to go snowshoeing in the late evening to watch the "show".

A PARADISE FOR
ALL WINTER SPORTSMEN/WOMEN

Lapland is certainly not only a paradise for cross-country skiers, but for all active winter sport enthusiasts. For downhill skiing, you can choose from one of the three areas in the vicinity: The tranquil Olos region, the cosy Ylläs area or lively Levi, where you can try your skills on the slope, where the FIS championships are held every year in November! However, if this option should be too daring for you, there are also easier runs.

Until April you will find superb snow quality to ski on. Of course, all ski areas have professional equipment rental companies, so you will have the right equipment in no time at all to start skiing!

WITH SNOWMOBILES

Forget the “deafening” silence and make some noise! Enjoy a ride into snow covered forests and over gentle hills or a brisk ride in the open on a modern 4-stroke machine. The snowmobiles are eco-friendly and fuel-efficient. No comparison with the "loud stinkers" of the past.

Ice fishing "Pilkki"  In November the season of ice fishing begins by making holes in the middle of frozen waters. If you want to succeed, you need patience, a warm coffee and a guide who knows where the best places are.
